We are delighted to welcome our newest retail partnership, The National Museum of Art Architecture and Design Norway. Arckit is now available in their stunning museum and throughout Norway via their online store.
Designed by Kleihues + Sachuwerk Architects, the museum has an aura of a modern temple built with robust materials including marble, oak and bronze. The L-shaped plan is clad in Norweigen slate wrapping existing structures on the site and creating a central paved courtyard that blends with the surrounding streets.
Their interiors feature light ceilings, wooden floors and windows that frame views of the city and internal sculpture courtyards. A cafe faces onto the central courtyard, alongside a museum shop that is housed in an existing 19th-century building on site.
Capping the museum is a space for temporary exhibitions, described by the studio as a "light hall". It is clad in sheets of translucent marble and glass and illuminated at night like a beacon along Oslo's waterfront. We think that it would make for a pretty impressive Arckit model representation.
